In this example we will stack two switches and trunk between them. We want to manage the switch from port 1 on Switch 1 and port 1 on Switch 2 via port 8 on Switch 1.
1. To configure the switch, set an IP address of 192.168.1.1/24 on your laptop and log into Switch 2 at 192.168.1.20 using admin/admin, after connecting your laptop to the switch's port 1.
2. Click the VLAN tab and using the (+) sign, add as many vlans as you plan to use. In this case we added 5. Set the ID and add a description for each.
3. Remember vlan 1 is untagged traffic to manage the switch. Toggle the ports for vlan 1 until your screen looks like the example. The letters T for Tagged and U for untagged toggle so keep clicking until you get the desired effect. Do the same for all vlans.
4. When your screen looks exactly like the example above, click Save/Apply.
5. Put Switch 2 aside and connect to port 1 of Switch 1 and log inat 192.168.1.20 using admin/admin, after connecting your laptop to the switchport 1.
6. Click the Device-Configuration tab and set the IP address to 192.168.1.21 and click Save/Apply:
7. Log into the switch at the new IP of 192.168.1.21 as before and set the VLANs tab as follows:
8. Click Save/Apply and now connect the switches as follows:
You should now be able to manage Switch 1 and Switch 2 at their respective IP addresses. You can now replace the Laptop with a Router with the appropriate VLAN configuration as shown in our Netonix Router on a Stick Example HERE
I have included my configs as attachments.
